It’s pretty cool when an actor takes it upon themselves to launch a “cast me” campaign, especially when it is for a character they know and love.  Kinda like Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furios, Death Race) with his ongoing twitter and instagram posting to be noticed and possibly considered to take on the mantle of John Stewart, The Green Lantern.

This rumor just got a whole bunch o’ fuel, actually.  San Diego Comic Con is just around the corner, and Warner Brothers is expected to make some pretty big announcements during their Hall H presentation.  The current line of thought?  The casting of the next Green Lantern(s).

Shit just got real – #doubleoath #doubletrouble #GreenLantern #WB #VoltronPictures

“There are certain things I can’t speak on,” Gibson said to Entertainment Tonight. “But I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”

We could be seeing a Lantern story with TWO past/present wearers of the ring.  I mean, if Marvel can do it with Ant-Man, why can’t Warner Brothers?  It’s not like they have anything to lose at this point.

Gibson stated when asked about attending SDCC: “You never know, I might be there on the other side of an announcement. You never know.”

I guess we’ll see!  We’ll keep you guys updated if this progresses before Hall H, but until then, comic-ON!
