Well we knew that it’d be included on the head of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but now as an early Christmas present, Fox has released the first official trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence. It’s 20 years after the first film, and Dr. Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) has been helping Earth master the alien technology to be ready for a second encounter. Well, they’re back, and definitely bigger than ever.

We’ll skip the science-picky elements of the effects a ship that big being in the atmosphere to begin with would have, and just comment that it looks damned cool. It’s been far too rare of a film where earth has more or less the same tech-level of the aliens that are invading, giving us a chance for a toe-to-toe smackdown fight.

So, who’s looking forward to ID 4, round 2?
