Margot Robbie (Wolf of Wall Street) will be playing Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film. This came to us from Collider.
Harley Quinn is one of my favorite characters in all of comic books. The character for those who do not know was originally intended to be a throw away character in the Batman Animated Series. People loved her so much in that one episode that Bruce Timm decided to continually re-introduce her in the animated series. Harley Quinn’s character developed and we later find out she was originally a doctor named Dr. Harleen Quinzel and fell in love with The Joker after trying to treat his mental illness.
Additional Suicide Squad news reveals that yesterday Gosling had withdrawn from contention is being replaced by Jared Leto. The role the two were apparently fighting for is that of The Joker. At a convention this weekend, Jon Bernthal said he couldn’t comment as to whether he had discussed a role with Ayer.
Suicide Squad is scheduled to release in theaters in 2016.
