Marvel Comics as always was very busy at this year’s New York Comic Con. This year they actually brought some new stuff that they did not show off at San Diego Comic Con for example what Daredevil will look like in the upcoming Netflix Series, what comic books will be hitting store shelves soon, a preview of Agent Carter, some details on upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as some exciting news in the world of Guardians of the Galaxy. So we decided to help you out by breaking down this article in those topics to help you recap this weekend!
Comic Book News
The first announcement was the Hawkeye series will be ending soon. and relaunded in a year with Green Arrow‘s writter Jeff Lemie, which is funny that he went from one archer to another. In addition to that a few new comic book series are coming for everyone’s eye sockets. Those include Ant-Man, which with the movie right around the corner is really no surprise and a new series entitles Silk. Silk is a new series focusing on the recently-introduced Cindy Moon who was bitten by a Spider-Man spider.
In addition to those titles, it appears that “Spider-Gwen” is going to be getting her own series. This is no surprise with the success of the one issue that she has been featured in. It will be set in an alternate universe from the “616″ Marvel U. If you could not figure it out Spider-Gwen will be about a world where Gwen Stacy was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker.
It was also announced that Gamora will be getting her own solo series. (again see Marvel doing it right. Marvel seeing more and more women are getting introduced/reading comic books that they have decided to build their heroine titles). This will be the fourth “Guardians” spin-off title to be published.
We finally see what Daredevil looks like in the upcoming Netflix series!
They also announced at their panel at New York Comic Con the following cast members and there parts on the show Bob Gunton as Leland Owlsely (better known as The Owl), Vondie Curtis Hall as reporter Ben Urich, Toby Leonard Moore as Wesley, Wilson’s Fisk’s right hand man, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk. They’ve also revealed that Rosario Dawson will be playing Claire Temple, Marvel’s Night Nurse!
Agent Carter/S.H.I.E.L.D. News
Jeph Loeb started the S.H.E.I.L.D. panel by saying that two years ago New York Comic Con was where it was announced that Coulson WILL live in the upcoming series S.H.I.E.L.D. and that in the newest season “anyone can be HYDRA” and he opened his shirt to reveal that he was wearing a HYDRA t-shirt. At this point Coulson came out and confronted Loeb, this caused fans to rejoice and scream and do all the things we fans do.
They then showed the latest episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. called “I Will Face My Enemy,”. In the episode Agent Melinda May does all that is necessary for her mission, which involves a “miracle painting”. We don’t want to give too much away aka be a bunch of dick so we will leave it at that.
After the episode ends Loeb and Gregg produced a DVD which contains a single sequence from the show Agent Carter. The scene shows Agent Carter, Howard Stark and Stark’s butler Edwin Jarvis driving up to a pier in a car. Stark starts to explain that a formula to make some super powered bomb has gone… missing… because that is what happens to important documents they go missing. They continue their conversation eventually Jarvis suggest driving Miss Carter home but she simple replies with “This is Where I Get To Work.” There was a minor fight scene also shown but that was about it from that.
