Everyone has been dreaming about immersive high-end VR since the first time any of us had even heard of the notion. You were most likely a small child watching a movie or reading a book about how someone who plugged into something else…could do amazing things. Maybe it was The Matrix….but probably not.

Regardless, millions of people will now see that dream come true in the form of the Oculus Rift. All you have to do is wait until March of this year. Oh…and spend $599 / £499. The Facebook-owned company opened pre-orders for its virtual reality headset today, finally putting a price and release on the product that we’ll be able to test for ourselves.

The first Oculus Rift package will come with the headset, a sensor for tracking your movement, an Xbox One controller, a wireless adapter for the controller, an Oculus Remote and two games.  Copies of 3D platforming adventure Lucky’s Tale and CCP’s space battle game EVE: Valkyrie will ship with the package if you pre-order.

If you’re looking to make your Computer Rift Ready, they’ve also detail some specifications:

Video Card NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater

CPU Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater

Memory 8GB+ RAM

Video Output Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output

USB Ports 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port

OS Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

Oculus founder Palmer Luckey assured potential customers on Twitter that pre-orders won’t sell out but if you’re willing to spend the money to be one of the first people to experience what will notably the first step into a 2016 VR craze, I’d act now. Or start saving.
