A year ago Conan O’Brian had the worst task of having to tell the world that Robin Williams had passed away.
I will never forget this man’s influence on my childhood. He always made me smile and made a nation happy. He had a chemistry that no one could compete with. He was contagious. Never did you leave a theater feeling nothingness after a Robin Williams film. He left audience laughing, smiling, and at point crying.
In honor of Robin we wanted to try and start an internet movement if even for a day. Flock to Instagram and take a photo or video and hash tag it with #OhCaptainMyCaptain to celebrate the one and only Robin Williams! To show his family that though he is gone he is still loved. Because in this world of remakes he was a true original.
Oh Captain My Captain. You sir are an inspiration to many. To never falter in who you are. To always reach for the stars. You taught us to fly. And in your death you taught us to be aware. To learn that sometimes the one who makes us smile can us a smile as well. So for that we also ask you to reach out to a friend and let them know “Hey you… Your awesome! And I appreciate you!” Because even though you think they know it. Sometimes it just needs to be said.
