If there’s any area of modern gaming that I think needs a good shaking up, it’s tthe multiplayer. And Naughty Dog’s frontrunner for best game of the year so far (according to a leaked review) seems to be doing just that by introducing a new dressing for tracking one’s performance over a number of rounds. The players seem to form some sort of faction that needs to try to survive over the course of 12 weeks. Each week comes with event-based challenges that determine the goal of the next round, and a player’s performance translates into more surviving NPCs for your faction (who can be sent on missions to further increase supplies and the like). That all comes on top of scavenging supplies on the fly and using materials to jimmy together gadgets and weapons. Don’t take my word for it, though, check the footage:
