Okay okay, there isn’t a lot that Tom Hiddleston can say about the upcoming Disney+ live-action television series about his Marvel Studios character Loki, but, it’s something.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the Shanghai International Film Festival, “The Night Manager” star answered a question about the upcoming series for Disney’s streaming service.
THR: What can you reveal about the upcoming Loki TV series and about this particular role?
Hiddleston: It is a constant source of surprise and delight that these films have connected with people. I knew he was a complex figure. Intelligent yet vulnerable. Angry and lost and broken and witty. I thought it was an amazing opportunity and it’s grown into this network of movies. I could never have expected it. I feel very fortunate that this character has connected with people.
THR: And where does the TV series take the character?
Hiddleston: All I can tell you is that it is called Loki. It is a new departure … but I can’t explain why.
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, there was a rumor that perhaps Hiddleston would be narrating the show rather than STARRING in it, but so far that hasn’t been addressed in any confirmation capacity.
We DO know a particular moment in “Avengers: Endgame” is what will more than likely kick off the series (notably Loki escaping with the Tesseract yet again), and may possibly entail the Asgardian-raised God of Mischief gallivanting through time.
Disney+ is set to hit November 12th 2019. We’ll of course let you know what else we hear about the slate of series and films coming with the streaming service.
