We love History’s Vikings, it is one of the best scripted series on TV.  The actors are a true ensemble, no one cast should be allowed to be so attractive!

If you’ve been keeping up with the current 3rd season, you know things are going a little roughly for King Ragnar and his son, Bjorn.  You know that Athelstan is still struggling with the duality of his past and present, and that Lagertha is a force all her own.

In the most recent episode, a stranger came calling to Kattegat (Ragnar and co’s home city), as foretold in the dreams of Princess Auslaug, Siggy, and Floki’s wife Helga.  The stranger Harbard, played by Kevin Durand (who we interviewed, you can read that here), seems to have a mysterious magic.  We’re still trying to decide who we really think he is, a fellow of Norse myth, a magician, or just a man with some nifty parlor tricks.

There was a skirmish of our Vikings and the Mercian armies.  Rollo tripped BALLS and hacked up a guy’s leg, and now we know why Clive Standen (who plays Rollo) made all the mentions of Berserker fury when we interviewed him.  Bjorn and Porunn go through some growing pains, but everything seems fine as Bjorn paints the face of his shield maiden love. (You can read our interview with Alexander Ludwig here.) Floki seems to be recovering from his anti-happy fit back in Kattegat, and we’re seeing shades of our dear crazy boat builder again.

Also, back over in England, King Egbert and Lagertha got a big more friendly in his hot tub one evening, making for some awkward conversation between Athelstan and the English Princess who confessed her longing for him in the previous episode.

But I really want to talk about the sewing of the fields in Lagertha’s new village.  (I just found out they filmed the blood sacrifice scene in a single take, making it even more incredible.) Athelstan watches, betraying nothing of his internal struggle.

I mean we’re still holding out that the role of Marvel’s Captain Marvel will go to either Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) or Kathryn Winnick (Lagertha on Vikings). This recent interview with Kathryn makes us even MORE excited about the possibility, we’d be equally happy with either butt kicking leading lady:

Needless to say, we’re completely obsessed with the series, and cannot wait to see where things are going. Well, I guess that isn’t entirely true, because I’ve read my Ragnar Lothbrok history, and I know what happens.
