Tonight’s Midnight Movie is 1988’s Scrooged, staring Bill Murry in the lead role. In this updated tale a selfish TV executive gets haunted by three spirits on Christmas eve hoping to teach the cynical Frank Cross a lesson before it’s too late. This is one of Bill Murray’s finest roles filled with his special blend of radically manic comedy and eventually sweet sensitivity. The supporting cast is excellent and I give mad props to Bobcat Goldthwait. I enjoy this adaptation so much that I even watch it outside of the Christmas season.
