Nickelodeon’s Guts was a staple of every kids childhood tv programming. The show was hosted by Mike O’Malley with his partner in crime and ref of the show Moira “Mo” Quirk. Let’s go to the leader board MO! The series originally ran from 1992 to 1995 on Nickelodeon.

The show would showcase three young athletes, with the most terrible nicknames like Jazzy Jess,  competing in a bunch of “extreme” sporting events that resembled much of a game you would find in a gym class. You know the ones where you lose a soccer ball ball instead you use a football, your basic mashup games. Also everything on guts needed a bungee chord because everything is fucking better with the bungee chord. The final leg of the game would be that of the Aggro Crag. And what did you win for public humiliation? A glowing plastic rock.

Well thanks to Mountain Dew and Nickeleon’s Notalgia channel The Splat we got this incredibly awesome event in SoHo New York City. That is right they actually built the entire aggro crowd as a publicity stunt. The Aggro Crag dubbed the DEWggro Crag was split into two courses the Baja Blast side and the Pitch Black side. You got your choice of which side to traverse.

The show’s original host Mike O’Malley was there, and he had some choice words for the losers that I spent a childhood mocking.

“If you’re not athletic, and you’re a lousy competitor, you’re gonna lose,” the former GUTS host told the Daily News. “We can say this because they’re adults. We couldn’t say this about the kids.”

If you missed it we got you covered with some really awesome coverage from our favorite photographer Ron Gejon! He was our boots on the ground of the event and here are some of the awesome photos of the event!
