In honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day in Russia, all versions of Battlestate Games beta testing “Escape From Tarkov” will be discounted by 20 percent. The sale will be on from 00:01 MSK (Moscow Time) February 23, 2020 until 23:59 MSK on February 24, 2020.

Wait. What’s that? You’ve not heard of EFT yet? Here’s a rundown for you.

Get Ready to Escape

Escape From Tarkov, or EFT, is a hyper-realistic online first-person shooter that takes your character through different sectors of the fictional city of Tarkov, Russia. Your goal is to defend yourself from not only the locals, but other players as well. While looting through the city districts for quest items and “scav junk”, outfit yourself with the best armor and weapons, or take them from your in-game enemies. You’ll need to stock yourself up on in-game ammunition, healing kits, painkillers, and the like if you expect to ex-filtrate the session, so head to the goods dealers to barter, or set up a deal with all of the other #EFT players on the Flea Market.

The game features a story-driven walkthrough, allowing you to learn the complex ins and outs of EFT either online in multiplayer mode, or offline with the option of PvE with different difficulties. The hotkeys and keyboard functions for this game are pretty intense, but extremely worth it. For *this* EFT player, having the option of the offline mode was the best way to learn the maps and districts, as well as how to better annihilate the competition.

“But why the &#@! would I ever pay for a beta?”

Listen, we all have our reservations when it comes to a new game. We’re *almost* always skeptical when a game in beta testing is charging in the first place, but hear us out. You won’t find another game that is close to EFT when it comes to realism of battle, stealth, and often, untimely death.

Lead Developer at Battlestate Games Limited, Nikita Buyanov, as well as his team of people “experienced in FPS and hardcore games” have done an amazing job of presenting a game that feels real. The attention to the small details and the accuracy of the game is the real game-changer for us. If you load in without ammunition, you’re SOL until you can find a cache or an ammo box that has the correct ammo for your weapon. And that AK-M that you built but didn’t put a dust cover on? Yeah, your beautiful weapon is now jamming every third shot. What’s that, you fell from the third story Dorms? Well, it looks like you’ll be hobbling your broken legged body as far as you can make it.

But is the Edge of Darkness Edition really that much better than the Standard Edition?

The short answer here is yes. One of the most important things that you can upgrade with a better edition of the game is inventory space. Each version comes with an increase to your storage space, which you will realize will NEVER BE BIG ENOUGH! There are quite a few other perks that you can check out over at the Escape From Tarkov pre-order site.

Here’s how the developers describe Escape From Tarkov.

With each passing day the situation in the Norvinsk region grows more and more complicated. Incessant warfare in Tarkov has sparked massive panic; the local population has fled the city, but those who stayed are looking to improve their fortunes at the expense of others. Having accepted the new reality, savage Tarkov locals – “Scavs” flocked into well-armed gangs and started the redivision of the city. Nowadays, Tarkov is separated by unseen borders, controlled by different groups. Gain-greedy gunmen would go to any length to have their way, including the murder of civilians and direct confrontation with the two private military companies.
The players will have to experience living in the skin of one of the mercenaries who survived the initial stage of the Tarkov conflict. After choosing one of the sides – USEC or BEAR – the player’s character starts to make his way out of the city. Tarkov is sealed off by UN and Russian military, supply chains are cut, communication with operational command is lost, and in these conditions everyone has to make his own choices of what to do and how to get out of the chaos-ridden metropolis.

If that hasn’t sold you on checking out Escape from Tarkov foryourself, there are hundreds of Twitch streamers and YouTube videos out there that can help you make your decision. We here at AggressiveComix recommend checking out Pestily over on for not only gameplay, but walkthroughs and the occasional Escape From Tarkov Twitch drop days.
