If you’ve been following my social media posts then you already know I’m a huge fan of #SteveMartin. I adore this man as an actor, comedian, musician, and all around talented soul. I love and own nearly every movie he’s been in or associated with. I have his comedy albums(vinyl) and his blue grass CDs. recently I bought the team up he did with Edie Brickell, which of course I think is perfect. Steve Martin moves me in a way few actors of my generation do. so when I say that tonight’s #midnightmovie is in my #top5 of anything he’s done, please understand I am very familiar with his videography & discography. #ShopGirl is one of the best things Martin has ever written, IMO. I read the #novella when it came out in #2000 and became obsessed with the movie in 2005.  the story revolves around Mirabelle,(played wonderfully by #ClaireDanes) who is a recent college graduate living as a lonely and depressed glove sales woman in LA.  the story follows the two relationships in her life; wealthy divorcée Ray Porter (Steve Martin)and struggling musician Jeremy. (#JasonSchwartzman) Mirabelle falls in love with the glamorous Ray, and her life takes a magical turn, but eventually she realizes that she must empower herself and make a choice between them. —it’s not a chick flick, nor do I find it romantic though shelved under romance.  it’s more of disenchanted drama and I find it fantastic. it’s definitely one of those movies you can watch alone under a giant snuggle eating cereal while your brain replays every estranged relationship you’ve ever experienced.
