It’s that time again, the weekend is here and Steam is blowing out games for you to spend your hours in.
Deep Silver Publisher Weekend
This week it’s German publisher Deep Silver’s turn to slash prices on their entire hit or miss catalog. In case you’re unfamiliar, here’s a rundown of some of their titles:
- Saints Row
- Metro 2033
- Dead Island
- Risen
- Killer Is Dead
- Might No. 9
- Homefront
- and Sacred
Some of these are at prices under $5 so even if the game only rates in the 70’s it might be worth checking out.
Chivalry
Chivalry has been in my queue for awhile. An action oriented medieval warfare game, two sides fight with swords, axes and bows, raiding villages, sieging castles, and otherwise cutting their opponents to bits in real time first person combat. It comes to us from Tom Banner Studios and not only is it on sale this weekend, you can try it before you buy until Sunday.
Grey Goo
Grey Goo is an interesting looking title coming from developer Petroglygh. It’s a real time strategy game that takes on a slower pace than your typical modern fare, with some truly amazing visuals and two playable races. The aim is to shy away from actions per second and focus more on large-scale decision making, it would seem, and for some that would be a strong selling point. Goo comes from a long line of RTS’s, given that Petroglyph once went by the name Westwood. For those not in the know, they could be considered the granddaddy of the RTS genre with Dune II and Command and Conquer, so if you want to see what they’ve been up to, download the game, it’s free this weekend on Steam and half off if you want to buy!
Pick of the Week
My pick this week would have to be Chivalry. I can see a lot of hours tearing it up with a sword and bow, and given the sale price, the servers will have plenty of fodder! Give it a try, let us know what you picked up this weekend on Steam or not.
