Twin Peaks is finally returning for a limited run of nine episodes set to premiere in 2016 on Showtime, around the same time as the show’s finale on ABC twentyfive years ago. Our quarter-century long wait of this cult favorite is rewarded with the return of the original creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, who will also write and produce ALL the episodes. Lynch is set to sit in the director’s chair throughout the filming of the entire series as well. This was all gossip last week, but when has Lynch ever lied to us?

Variety says the current plan is for the new series to take up modern day story lines established in the second season of the original series.

Specifically this tweet from series creator David Lynch.
