The head scratching is over, folks! According to ComicBookMovie.com, Whoopi Goldberg is going to be playing the role of Bernadette Thompson. Which, fans of the 1987 animated series should realize….is a gender-swapped version of Burne Thompson (the boss to April O’Neil and Vernon Fenwick).

“In the animated series, the character, along with the cameraman, Vernon Fenwick, would constantly blame crimes in New York City on the Turtles. He clearly didn’t care for them, and at times resembles J. Jonah Jameson. Even though he wasn’t a fan of the Turtles, he didn’t allow his feelings to prevent April from reporting on their heroics.”
