Many gamers world-wide have come to enjoy the sci-fi horror that is Dead Space. The video game franchise has sold 3.38m units world-wide as of July 2013 for the Xbox 360 alone. And make no mistake, those numbers continue to climb. So Electronic Arts plans to do what all super successful video games in the twenty first century do; create a movie buzz! They chose the San Diego Comic Convention as their choice platform to make the announcement.

According to WorstPreviews, Justin Marks, who has authored the masterful script of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li has been hired to write-up the Dead Space movie script. Additionally, the source went on to say that Neal Moritz from I Am Legend was hired to produce. Variety speculates that DJ Caruso will be directing the film, as it claims Moritz, “has been eyeing” the project since around the same time Caruso expressed interest in taking on the endeavor.

During the panel at the SDCC Justin Marks made his stance clear as to the direction he envisions a Dead Space movie to take, and it is not in the line of game canon, “You would be making Event Horizon or Alien, I’ve already seen that movie”. Marks continued on stating that he plans to write a Dead Space that is “that’s new and intriguing”. Although that brings up a valid question with fans; what makes it a Dead Space movie then?
