James Avery, most known for the role of Phil Banks in the hit 90s sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, passed away on December 31st due to heart complications proceeding an open heart surgery in November.

And while many remember him for his tv/film roles. He had an impressive catalog of voice acting gigs under his belt. He voiced Shredder in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series as well as War Machine/James Rhodes on the 1990s Iron Man and Spider-Man cartoons. Other shows included Gargoyles, Prince Valiant, and 1998’s Batman & Robin video game.

Though he never had children of his own, he was a wonderful TV dad to many of us and he will never be forgotten.
