Sony Picture’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to open just days from now, and perhaps in a last ditch effort to drum up further interest, The Wrap ran a story detailing the plans to move forward, as early as January on the Sinister Six project.  IGN also commented on this article, stating as other outlets have, the credit sequence is in no way reflective on the possible lineup.  Now this may be jumping the gun on things, but until reports of post-scene easter eggs in Spidey 2 happen, I’ll remain cautious.

I love Venom/Carnage.  He is probably my favorite Spider-Man villain, aside from the dynamic of Morbius and Black Cat (who yes, I know, aren’t ALWAYS villains, but are antagonists more often than not).  I grew up with no less than three Spider-Man cartoons, at least six different comic titles traversing the world of Peter Parker’s New York.  I had no issues with Sam Rami’s webslinging flicks…..until the third film….and am still rather fuzzy as to why they decided to reboot the franchise so soon after it had it’s chance.  While the Andrew Garfield starring film from 2012 wasn’t bad, I had issues with their use of Doctor Connors/The Lizard as the ‘big bad’.  Hopefully the sequel with it’s NUMEROUS adversaries will come across better.

There is so much we don’t know about this proposed Sinister Six film; the team behind the project hasn’t even decided on WHO they’ll include.  But, it seems like a definate this offshoot film WILL happen.  Projected production might begin as early as January of 2015.
